(Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。洪瑜、丘有为和尤湘三个年轻人寄居在校外一间宿舍中，邻居是已故银行家李某一家。洪瑜悄然爱上了李家小姐李小鸿，二友鼓励洪瑜写信，终得回信，原来小鸿也钟情于他，二人就此难舍难分。父亲病危，洪瑜归家。洪父临死前嘱其与表妹风飞结婚，以报风父资助之恩。万般无奈洪瑜遵从父命。尤湘和有为指责洪瑜，并让他与小鸿见面。小鸿得知真相，忧伤成疾。洪瑜去巴黎留学，风飞不耐寂寞与洪瑜离婚。洪瑜赶去告与小鸿，小鸿却已近弥留……。
