1945年8月，日寇投降后。这天，丁龙镇一改往日平静，热闹起来。日本特务易木（张痴 饰）正在镇上组织原先唐四九（孙元勋 饰）的保安队开会，他给唐冠以中央军番号，要他专门对付镇上的共产党。区委书记兼区长仲成（李兆民 饰）闻讯赶来，他当场戳穿了易木的险恶用心，并号召大伙不要上敌人的当。面对仲成的凛然正气，易木暗藏杀机，他派人刺杀仲成未遂，又设计栽赃共产党干部，后被知情者揭穿。一列装满军用物资的火车要经丁龙镇开往国民党盘距的青岛，敌我双方都得到这个情报，我军先行一步，截住了列车。敌人假传仲成命令，企图调走火车，仲成闻言，飞身跃上已经开动的列车......。Written by the director himself, the story revolves around an “absent” hero: an astronaut lost in the emptiness of space.
