1861年，"辛酉政变"后，新皇载淳即位，慈安、慈禧两宫太后开始了垂帘听政。太平天国农民革命，使刚刚回到京城的皇室惶恐不安。慈禧太后力排众议，果断起用汉臣曾国藩镇压了赵义军。从此，她更加骄横跋扈，逐渐控制了整个朝廷。而曾国藩则在镇压太平天国和捻军的过程中，趁南扩充了湘军，壮大了势力。八年以后，宫廷内权力争斗日益尖锐，早已实权在握的慈禧太后依靠外洋势力，进一步卖国求荣，不断地巩固着自己的权位。届时载淳业已长大成人，两宫太后同时为他物色皇后。载淳封慈安选中的阿鲁特氏为皇后，封慈禧选中的富察氏为皇妃。为此，慈禧心中极为不悦。慈禧的心腹太监总管安德海借机向主子大献殷勤，慈禧恩准他秘密出京，为其刺探南京天王府的财宝，定制苏杭的绸锻刺绣。家德海一路上吃喝嫖赌，胡作非为，为百姓所痛恨。山东巡抚丁葆祯密谏朝廷，恳请查处。皇上降旨"就地正法"，安德海被斩讫。慈禧心中又...。In her new documentary, Waad Al-Kateab (director of the Oscar nominated For Sama) shows us the dramatic challenges faced by refugee athletes who competed for a place in the 2020 Olympic Games.
